Craigslist Redesign
The purpose of this project is to analyze the usability and design system of Craigslist and redesign it. The emphasis is on effective visual interface and navigation system development based on the principles of information hierarchy, visualization, interactivity, and usability.
Usability Heuristics Analysis
Visibility of System Status - needs better hierarchy – everything blends together - needs designated home page
User Control & Freedom - no clearly marked exit - use of color coding?
Consistency & Standards - when clicking “beauty + hlth” the next page says “health and beauty” instead - inconsistencies when using ‘and, +, &’
Error Prevention - no undo button
Aesthetic & Minimalistic Design - minimal but ineffective, no aesthetic - not very exciting/inviting for the user
Help & Documentation - help button is at very bottom of page and mixed in with other categories on the home page - needs an icon?
Task A: Search for Clifton housing that has images. Switch to map view and select first item. Create a new housing post.
Task B: Search for design jobs in a gallery view. Select first item and review details. Create a new job post.

My objectives are to create a better sense of hierarchy and more user control and freedom. The focus will be on use of white space and effective minimalist design.
